Scope of ISO 26262
ISO 26262 is relevant for automotive manufacturers, automotive suppliers and testing laboratories who are involved with safety related electronic systems. This page explaines more in detail if ISO 26262 is relevant for you.
Scope of ISO 26262:
ISO 26262 is intended for safety related electronic systems installed in series produced road vehicles (cars, busses, trucks, motor cycles).
ISO 26262 gives requirements for all activities and deliverables necessary during development, production and servicing of electronic systems for road vehicles (see picture with life cycle below). For more info download ISO 26262

Not in the scope of ISO 26262:
- Systems developed before the publication date.
- Special purpose vehicles (motor caravans, ambulances, etc.).
- Hazards caused by electric shock, fire, smoke, heat, radiation, toxicity, release of energy, reactivity, corrosion, unless directly caused by malfunctioning electric/electronic systems.
